2025 Creation Sabbath Art
The Official 2025 Creation Sabbath Art
It’s here, the official Creation Sabbath 2025 art . Each year, a fresh new visual representation to inspire reflection on the meaning of the Sabbath as a day when we look back in wonder at the amazing grace our Creator has given to us. Specifically, this year’s art points back to the powerful opening lines of Scripture in Genesis 1:2 NLT
"The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters."
From this profound verse, we developed a visual reflection on the moment before creation and then flows from there into the vibrant life that follows when God speaks.
The Meaning Behind the Design
At the center of this design is the deep ocean, representing the starting point of creation—the waters over which the Spirit of God hovered. From this point, the design expands outward and upward to depict the fullness of the world that followed.
- Underwater Realm: Rich with marine life including coral reefs representing both the shallow reefs we are familiar with all the way down to the corals found living as deep as 3,000 meters, the ocean floor represents the very "deep waters" referenced in Genesis 1:2. It evokes the quiet, mysterious, and life-filled world that came into being when God gathered the waters and filled them with living creatures.
- Surface and Sky: Above the waters, the separation of land and sea is visible, reflecting God’s command that brought order. The division between water and sky is illuminated by the sun, moon, and stars—the “greater and lesser lights” set in the sky to govern day and night.
- The Soft Flow of the Spirit: A gentle, glowing light flows above the land and between the sky and sea. This soft glow symbolizes the Spirit of God hovering—present, powerful, and active, preparing the way for creation.
- Land Animals: A diverse assembly of animals on land reminds us of the day God created the creatures that walk, roam, and fly—each after its kind. From polar bears to giraffes, tigers to elephants, this part of the art shows the richness and intentionality of God’s design.
- Unity of Creation: Altogether, the image shows the wholeness and interconnectedness of creation—both land and sea, light and darkness, air and water—all brought into existence by the Word of God.
The Spiritual Emphasis
“More than just a beautiful scene, the art is meant to call our attention to the Spirit of God—the divine presence that hovered over the waters in preparation for the creative process. Creation Sabbath 2025 invites us to reflect not only on what was created, but also who created”
Then God said… and there was…
This year, we celebrate the God who brings life, order, and beauty from the void—the Creator who through His grace gave form, purpose, and harmony, the Creator who became part of His creation to redeem it, to redeem us, from sin and corruption.
We hope this logo will serve as a visual anchor, reminding us of God’s ongoing sustaining of the creation and His redemptive work in our world today.
